yellowknife mind

There’s a place in my mind
where everything’s free
And no one is sad
— not even me

A place where the sky
is as wide as it’s deep
And the clouds floating by
seem to sing us to sleep

The fish in the lake
hum along like a choir
And the heavenly song
rises higher and higher

It’s a place where the sun
sends its love-giving rays
to shine though the nights
as well as the days

In this place all our dreams
tumble out of our sleep
and our hopes start to rise
and our hearts start to leap

The loved ones we’ve lost
come knocking again
as happiness falls
and soaks us like rain

In this place in my mind
it’s easy to be
There’s nothing to do
— except love and be free
